Welcome to the Peterborough and District Labour Council web site. We are very excited to be able to communicate with local members and activists on-line. The site will assist us in keeping you informed of upcoming labour events, labour educationals, and labour council meetings. In addition, the site will provide affiliate members with a list of the elected Labour Council Executive and how to contact them. You will be able to access other labour sites such as the Canadian Labour Congress and the Ontario Federation of Labour by a simple click.

We hope that you find your visit to the Labour Council site informative and educational. If you have any comments or suggestions, we would appreciate them. Please email us with your thoughts or telephone us at (705) 742-9286

"Far too often the history of working people is overshadowed by the history of politicians and industrial leaders. Labour has been fundamental in shaping legislation, workplace standards, health care and other integral features of Canadian life." This is from the introduction to Standing Strong, Facing Forward - The History of the Labour Movement in Peterborough and District by Tara DeBlois.

Our illustrated hardcover local labour history can be purchased at Titles Bookstore at 379 George Street North, Peterborough.  Also, the Peterborough Social Planning Council, The United Way of Peterborough and District and several other fine organisations have copies for sale or call the Labour Council at 705-742-9286 to order your copy.
