Labour History Exhibit

May 7-31, 2002 - Peterborough Public Library

May 7, 2002 - Opening Ceremony

The Exhibit is built around the stories of six workers, men and women who lead ordinary lives until they were drawn into dramatic events. The stories give us a window on how people earned wages, made ends meet, found outlets for fun and sociability, and took a stand for human dignity and social justice. The Exhibit begins in 1872 as the first Industrial Revolution is picking up steam and ends in 1972 as teachers mobilize in Montreal over their treatment on the job.
