Labour Day Picnic

September 1st, 2003 - Nicholl's Oval

Over 300 adults and 150 youths attended the 13th annual Labour Day Picnic at Nicholl's Oval in Peterborough on Monday, September 1 from 12 to 3 pm. About half of the attendees included members of more than 30 different union locals from the Peterborough area. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit juice, granola bars, chips, ice cream, popcorn, mini-golf, bouncy castle, a clown, music, draw prizes for adults and children, children's races - and a visit from our own 'Champlain Elvis'.

Thanks goes to Dave and Adele for a great job on the BBQ, to 'Ice Cream Betty', to Dean and John on reception, to Keith for providing the music, to Marion & Ken for filling in everywhere (no candy floss this year, though!), to Ray and Steve for distributing the donations of buns, Gatorade and bars, to Ken and Loretta for keeping the popcorn machine humming, to Sherry-Lynn for slicing up nine giant Bailieboro Spanish onions (hope your hand heals up soon!), to Bill for another fine year of children's races, to Winnie Ng for the support and materials from the CLC , to all those businesses (Pepsico, Shish-Kabob Hut, etc.) who donated food and prizes, and a special thanks goes to Margot Marshall who ran it all like a true pro. Roll on 2004!
